Public Notice in Compliance with Part XI of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended) as set down in Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended).

Pursuant to the requirements of the above, Notice is hereby given that Kerry County Council proposes to carry out the development, particulars of which are set out hereunder.

Nature and extent of the Proposed Works

The proposed works will include the following:

• Upgrade of the N22 over a distance of 1520m from Woodford Bridge to MD O’Shea Roundabout.

• Upgrade of the L3907 Ballycasheen Road over a distance of 300m from its junction with the N22 to the Railway Overbridge.

• Extensive active travel upgrades, through introduction of new and improved pedestrian and cycle facilities throughout the project.

• Upgrade of the existing road surface with installation of a low noise emitting stone mastic asphalt.

• Replacement of the N22-R876-L3010 Park Road Roundabout with a signalised junction, with integrated protected crossings for pedestrians and cyclists.

• Upgrade of the N22 - L3907 Ballycasheen Road Junction to a signalised junction, with integrated protected crossings for pedestrians and cyclists.

• Establishment of new boundary walls and fencing at locations on the L3907 Ballycasheen Road.

• Introduction of a zebra type pedestrian and cycle crossing at L3907 Ballycasheen Road.

• Introduction of a toucan type pedestrian and cycle crossing to the west of MD O’Shea Roundabout.

• Upgrade of the existing pedestrian crossing on the N22 at Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre to a toucan type pedestrian and cycle crossing.

• Modifications to traffic lane widths and approach lanes for junctions.

• Modifications to public lighting, road signage and road markings.

• Improvements and upgrade of drainage and underground utilities.

• Landscaping and all other associated ancillary and accommodation works.

Kerry County Council, as the Competent Authority, has concluded that the proposed project, individually, and in combination with other plans and projects, is not one which requires an Appropriate Assessment (AA) or an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and is not likely to have significant effects on the environment.

Pursuant to Article 120(3)(b) a member of the public, may at any time before the expiration of 4 weeks beginning on the date of the publication of this notice, seek an EIA screening determination from An Bord Pleanála as to whether the proposed development would have significant effects on the environment.

Plans and Particulars of the proposed works are available for inspection or purchase, on payment of a specified fee, not exceeding the reasonable cost of making such a copy, during normal office hours from Wednesday, 21st May 2025 until Thursday 19th June 2025 at the following locations;

• Kerry County Council, Roads, Transportation and Marine, Room 115, County Buildings, Rathass, Tralee, Co. Kerry
