South Kerry Greenway Proposed Route Options (Cahersiveen to Reenard)

Introduction

Kerry County Council (KCC) in partnership with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) propose to extend the approved South Kerry Greenway to Cloghanelinaghan, Cahersiveen and Reenard.

The South Kerry Greenway (Cahersiveen to Reenard) will be an important addition to the Kingdom of Kerry Greenways. This Public Consultation is intended to be the first in a series of at least two Public Consultations on the project prior to confirmation of a Preferred Option for the Greenway.

The Project Team would like to hear your views in relation to the Proposed Options along with any information that you would like the Project Team to consider. This information will inform the development of the preferred Proposed Option.

We would like to hear your views on the proposed Greenway by Friday 15th November, 2024. The next Public Consultation is expected to take place in Q1 2025, to present the Preferred Option.

What’s Being Proposed

It is expected that the proposed South Kerry Greenway (Cahersiveen to Reenard) will from an extension to the An Bord Pleanalá approved South Kerry Greenway. The South Kerry Greenway (Cahersiveen to Reenard) is expected to be approximately 4-6km in length and aims to create a sustainable transport link to extend the An Bord Pleanalá approved South Kerry Greenway to connect Cloghanelinaghan, Cahersiveen and Reenard. The South Kerry Greenway (Cahersiveen to Reenard) will create a recreational pathway for use by locals and visitors and encourage and promote walking and cycling in a safe and controlled environment. The South Kerry Greenway (Cahersiveen to Reenard) forms part of an overall vision and strategy for the development of an integrated greenway network in Kerry which will enhance the visitor experience and contribute to the economic development of the local communities and the wider region. The Project Team are currently assessing the Proposed Options including potential constraints, opportunities, key features, attractors, etc., to inform the development of a preferred option for the Greenway.

Submissions can be made using this feedback form, or, by posting your completed Public Consultation Questionnaire to Kerry National Roads Office. Please make submissions by Friday 15th November 2024.
