Tralee to Listowel Greenway

 Public Consultation #3 - Preferred Option

Introduction

Kerry County Council (KCC) in partnership with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) propose to develop a greenway between Tralee and Listowel.
The Tralee to Listowel Greenway will be an important addition to the Kingdom of Kerry Greenways. This Public Consultation presents the Preferred Option for the Greenway. The Project Team would like to hear your views in relation to the Preferred Option along with any information that you would like the Project Team to consider. This information will inform the development of the Preliminary Design of the Greenway.

We would like to hear your views on the proposed Greenway by August 29th 2025.

What’s Being Proposed?

It is expected that the proposed Tralee to Listowel Greenway will connect to the Tralee to Fenit Greenway and the Listowel to Abbeyfeale Greenway.

The Tralee to Listowel Greenway is expected to be approximately 28-30km in length and aims to create a sustainable transport link between the towns of Tralee and Listowel, and the villages of Abbeydorney and Lixnaw.

The Tralee to Listowel Greenway will create a recreational pathway for use by locals and visitors and encourage and promote walking and cycling in a safe and controlled environment.

The Tralee to Listowel Greenway forms part of an overall vision and strategy for the development of an integrated greenway network in Kerry which will enhance the visitor experience and contribute to the economic development of the local communities and the wider region.

What’s Happening Now ?

The Project Team are now presenting the Preferred Option for the Greenway. Feedback received during this consultation will be considered by the Project Team during the development of the Preferred Option design.

Have Your Say!

The Project Team would like to hear your views on the proposed Tralee to Listowel Greenway. Kerry County Council will hold two public information events as follows:
• Ballyroe Lodge Hotel, Tralee – Monday 21st July 2025 from 3pm to 8pm.
• Listowel Arms Hotel, Listowel – Tuesday 22nd July 2025 from 3pm to 8pm.
Members of the Project Team will be available at both information events to meet with interested parties to discuss the project, the Preferred Options, and the next steps in the development of the project.
An online consultation process will commence on the Kerry County Council Consultations Portal https://consult.kerrycoco.ie on Monday 21st July 2025, running until Friday 29th August 2025.
The online consultation portal will provide drawings of the Preferred Option and an online feedback form where interested parties can make a submission to the Project Team.

Comments/information received at this public consultation will inform the development of the Preferred Option for the Greenway.
