Bearta Moillithe Tráchta / Traffic Calming Measures

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to Section 38 (3) of the Road Traffic Act 1994, as amended by the Public Transportation Regulation Act, 2009 (Section 46), and the Road Traffic Act 1961 (Section 95), Kerry County Council proposes to introduce traffic calming measures on Sunhill Road, Killorglin, Co. Kerry as follows:

• Upgrade of existing pedestrian crossings on Sunhill Road L-7503.

• Introduction of a raised table and pedestrian crossings at the junction of the L-7503 Sunhill Road with L-7806 Relief Road adjacent to Fexco.

• The introduction of a controlled pedestrian crossing at the top of Sunhill Road L-7503 adjacent to the entrance to Knocklyne housing estate road.

• Footpath improvements along the L-7503 Sunhill Road.

These traffic calming measures will provide improved safety and connectivity for pedestrians in the overall vicinity of Sunhill Road, Killorglin accessing Killorglin Town Centre, as well as safer routes to school for those attending Scoil Mhuire National School.

Drawings showing the location of the proposed works may be inspected at the following locations during normal office hours, for a period from Wednesday 16th July 2025, until Thursday, 14th August 2025:

• Kerry County Council, Killorglin Area Office, Library Place, Iveragh Road, Killorglin, Co. Kerry

• Kerry County Council, Roads and Transportation Department, Room 115, Kerry County Council, County Buildings, Rathass, Tralee, Co. Kerry V92H7VT

It will also be advertised on the Kerry County Council website – Through the Kerry County Council consultation portal, https://consult.kerrycoco.ie/en/browse which can also be accessed directly through the Council website www.kerrycoco.ie, using the + make a submission link.

Observations or representations in relation to the proposal may be made, in writing and marked Section 38 – Sunhill Road Traffic Calming Measures to the Senior Engineer, Capital Development Unit, Kerry County Council, Unit 20/21, The Reeks, Killarney, Co. Kerry V93C3WH or by email to cdusouth@kerrycoco.ie and must be received by 4.00 p.m. on Thursday, 14th August 2025.
