I am writing to outline my serious concerns about and opposition to the contents of the Draft Kenmare Municipal Local Area Plan (LAP), regarding the proposed designation of Heritage and Culturally Sensitive Areas (H&CSA) in Portmagee and Valentia Island.
There is not enough information for the Public
There is a sustainable development opportunity that should not be missed
There needs to be alternative access to the Peninsula Park
In respect to the Kenmare MD LAP section on Portmagee, it is not based on actual up to date localized data but that of historic data & broader modelling information that does not take into consideration private infrastructure in certain properties in the village to preempt coastal flooding
It is not clear to what extent the plan addresses the previous submissions from May 2023.
It is hoped that UNESCO inscription will be achieved during the lifetime of this Local Area Plan and as such the Foundation would welcome the continued support of Kerry County Council in driving the kind of structural changes and protections which will enable Valentia to fully exploit the opportunities which the UNESCO designation will undoubtedly deliver.
To better serve the local school and new community complex by making the potential for development more attractive by being centrally located between both the school and complex as well as the local shop.

Develop Club facilities and amenities
The plan should be adopted as it stands with every effort made to ensure that World Heritage inscription will follow in due course

Concerns About Inclusion Unaddressed Concerns at a Public Meeting Request for One-on-One Meetings Reference to Meath Co. Council's Rules Desire to Remove Portmagee from Buffer Zones
Pedestrian accessibility : As a tourist/retirement town I think Kenmare would benefit from further walking routes and in particular looped or circular walkways between Kenmare town and the Kenmare river, to add to the existing glorious Reenagross rear of Park Hotel.
My strong opposition to the proposal to include private mainland in Reencaheragh, Portmagee in the proposed development area, when the plan is related to Valentia Island. I am concerned about the lack of communication, consent, and transparency regarding the inclusion of land in the plan and request the immediate removal of Reencaheragh, Portmagee land from the plan's boundaries.
