Dear Sir/Madam

I wish to make an observation on the need for additional amenity walks in Kenmare town connecting the Pier Road to Market Lane near the stone circle heritage site. Please see submission details below.

Kind regards

Looped Waks in Kenmare

RE:The access road to the proposed wastewater treatment plant or from Pier Rd. to enhance the amenity value of the Draft Kenmare MD LAP Submission 2023

I wish to make a submission on the above plan. On perusing the document I must say it is succinct and quite balanced. As a tourist/retirement town I think it would benefit however from further walking routes and in particular looped or circular walkways to add to the glorious Reenagross between Kenmare town and the Kenmare river, rear of Park Hotel.

In particular the development of the very welcome Peninsula Park fig. 3.36 in the LAP should be linked back to the town via Market Lane. This would have a number of benefits for the future of the town namely it would:
•    Encourage sustainable living by enhancing walking
•    Support the usage of the additional car parks identified in the LAP
•    Connect with the proposed walkway in fig. 3.31b (Indictive design brief
•    ) for Reenagappal
•    Bring more attention to the stone circle (one of the best in the country) partly because it is on a cul de sac is not getting the attention or acclaim it deserves

I hope you will take this into account when considering the draft and include such a proposal in the final plan.
This is in accordance with the common good and the proper planning and development of the area.
Thank you for reading this.

Sincerely
Paul Murphy and Ann Hickey, [Redacted in the interest of GDPR]
