Knockaderry National School Board of Management,

Litir Chumhdaigh

My name is Dan Smyth and I am a member of the Board of Management in Knockaderry National School, Farranfore village.

There is a lack of available housing in the catchment area of Farranfore village to maintain the current School population.

Chapter 5: Rural Housing

Knockaderry National School, Little Acorns preschool & After School provide education services to the surrounding catchment area of Farranfore village. The admission numbers depend on young families moving into the area and sending their children to the school. The Board of Management has identified the need for extra houses to be developed within the catchment area of the School. (Already one family with three young children have left the area to go back to Australia due to lack of housing).

The Board of Management believe that the waste water treatment plant capacity needs to be increased to allow more development to happen. This will allow the construction of extra Houses to maintain School numbers.

Can Kerry Council consider this in their development plans?
